College Crest

A Short History of College.

In the Crest of the Mahavidyalaya, which is so thoughtfully designed, the open book is a distillation of the world, a massive ceaseless, endless crunch of proliferating knowledge, a treasure house the living voice of the past. It fashions, shapes and humanizes our mind and is the only means of perpetuating human knowledge and influencing the civilization of man.

The lighted lamp traditionally a symbol of wisdom is ever illuminating, everlasting 'a thing of beauty' and a beacon-light to the sailors in the deep dark perilous seas and thus a nimbus of hope to the young students.

The tree brings to our mind the thought for protection of the environment-the crying need and concern of our times.

The coin stands for trade and commerce, economic or material prosperity which can be achieved through the cultivation of knowledge and proper utilization of resources.

The stylus or the pen of our ancestors, a potent symbol, speaks volumes of the omnipotence of spirit over matter. It reminds us of the old saying-'pen is mightier than the sword.'

Lastly the great Vedic line-'Sa Vidya Ya Vimuktaye.' when done into English would mean the following — 'Knowledge or education is that liberates.' Quite simply, an educated man (in a sense enlightened) is infect a freeman.
